About Marcia Moonstar

Marcia has traveled and lived throughout the Northwest developing and performing her unique style of poetry, which has grown over the years to include music, dance and masks. A San Francisco native she began writing poetry as a teenager and started performing her poetry at the US Café in the Haight/ Ashbury district in the earily 70’s.

Marcia moved to the coast of Oregon in the fall of 1999 where she self-published her first book of poetry called Dancing the Dance of Self and started Celebrate Yourself Greeting cards . The greeting cards have Marcia’s empowering poetry and clip art from Dover press.

After three years on the coast Marcia became restless and in need of more creative stimulation and culture in her life so she moved to Eugene Or, in the summer of 1993 where she performed her poems with drums and belly dancers at the Wow Hall, Baba Yaga’s and many cultural events in Eugene, Oregon.

In the summer of 1997, she moved to Seattle to expand her horizons in another big city. She has performed at The Globe Café, Art Not Terminal Gallery, the Chi House in Ballard the Women Of Wisdom Conference in Seattle and East West Books  In March of 2001 she introduced her CD Moon Magic at International Woman’s Day at the Seattle Center. In the fall of 2001 she had a CD release party at East West bookstore blending music, dance and poetry.  Marcia has performed her poetry for children at the Island earth fair on Vashon Island and the Herb fair in Bellingham.  She is currently collaborating with Susan Keefer, a Didgeridoo player, and performing around Seattle blending world music with her poetry.

She is available to perform at parties and events. Marcia can be found most Sundays at the Ballard Craft and Farmers markets doing Astrology and Tarot readings and sharing her poetry at her booth.
